1. Ankle joint antero-posterior( mortice projection )
Position of patient and cassette
Patient की दोनों पैरो को फैलाकर x-ray table पर बैठाया /सुलाया जाता है। patient के comfort के लिए knee के नीचे pad लगा सकते हैं। affected ankle को dorsiflexion के लिए सहारा प्रदान करने के लिए 90 डिग्री की pad को foot की plantar aspect के against लगा देते हैं। affected limb को medially ( लगभग 20 डिग्री ) rotate करते हैं जिससे कि medial तथा lateral melleoli cassette से equidistant पर हो जाए। cassette के निचले किनारे को heel के plantar aspect के just नीचे रखते हैं।

Vertical central ray के centre को दोनों malleoli को मिलाने वाली काल्पनिक रेखा के लम्बवत देते हैं ।
Essential image characteristics
Image में tibia तथा fibula तथा talus के बीच के joint space स्पष्ट दिखाई देने चाहिए।( इस view को आमतौर पर mortice view कहते हैं।)Comman faults and remedies
Dorsiflexion कम या अपर्याप्त होने के परिणामस्वरूप calcaneum lateral malleolus के superimposed हो जाती हैं। medial rotation कम या अपर्याप्त होने के परिणामस्वरूप tibio-fibular joint overshadowing हो जाता है इसके साथ ही fibula तथा talus के मध्य का joint space भी स्पष्ट दिखाई नही देता है।2. Ankle lateral ( medio-lateral )
इस medio-lateral projection इसलिए है क्योंकि x-ray ankle के medial surface से enter करके lateral surface से बाहर निकलती है।Position of patient and cassette
Ankle को dorsiflexion के साथ patient को affected side की ओर घुमाते है जब तक कि दोनों malleoli एक दूसरे पर superimposed तथा cassette के लम्बवत न हो जाए। एक 15 डिग्री को forefoot के lateral border के नीचे रखते हैं तथा एक pad support के लिए knee के नीचे भी लगा देते है।

Central ray को tibia के अक्ष के right angle ( 90 डिग्री ) पर तथा medio malleolus पर देते हैं।
Essential image characteristics
Image में lower 1/3 tibia तथा fibula का part include होना चाहिए। talus के trochlear articular surface के medial तथा lateral तथा lateral border एक दूसरे पर superimposed होने चाहिए।Comman fault and remedies
Over rotation के कारण fibula tibia के पीछे project हो जाएगी तथा under rotation के कारण fibula की shaft tibia पर superimposed हो जाएगी तथा talus के trochlear articular surface के medial तथा lateral border एक दूसरे के superimposed नही होंगे । बिना fracture के भी 5th metatarsal का base तथा navicular bone image में include होने चाहिए।
