Mammography / मैमोग्राफी 

Breast organ की x-ray imaging mammography कहलाता है। जो breast organ   में cancer ( primary & malignant tomour ) को detect करने के लिए किया जाता है। breast organ  connective tissue , glandular tissue , soft tissue , blood vessels , skin & fat आदि से बना होता है। breast organ radiation के प्रति sensitive होता हैं। जिसके लिए low dose radiation का use करते हैं। mammography के अंदर अच्छे equipment use में लिए जाते हैं । ( जैसे -: small focal spot , low kvp technique , breast compressor device , low grid ratio and special film & screen )

Mammography के अंदर अच्छा उपकरण होना बहुत आवश्यक है। क्योंकि low dose के अंदर अच्छी quality की image प्राप्त की जाती है।

Types of mammogram examination -: 

1. Screening mammogram

यह examination किसी women में breast changes detect करने के लिए किया जाता है।लेकिन इसमें women को किसी भी प्रकार की breast disease के लक्षण नही होते हैं।

2. Diagnostic mammogram 

यह उन women के लिए किया जाता है जिनमें breast से related किसी प्रकार की disease हो या symptoms दिखाई दे ।

Mammography के अंदर normally cranio-caudal view और medio-lateral oblique view किया जाता हैं। mammography में target के रूप में molybdenum anode का use किया जाता हैं। जो strong characteristics x-ray produce करता है। breast imaging में focal spot size 0.1 to 0.3mm होती है। filter के रूप में beryllium  window का use किया जाता हैं। जो low रेडिएशन को absorb कर लेती है और patient dose को कम करती है। इसमें kv की range 25-30 use ली जाती हैं। patient की distance tube से 60-80cm होती हैं। exposure time 1-4sec होता हैं। breast को दबाने के लिए radiolucent paddle का प्रयोग किया जाता हैं जिसे compressor device कहते हैं। compressor device की thickness 3-8cm होती हैं। mammography  के अंदर moving grid का use किया जाता हैं। जो scatter radiation को रोकता है लेकिन पेशेंट dose को बढ़ा देता है। mammography के अंदर single intensifying screen use करते हैं। जिसमें phosphor के रूप में गैडोलीनियम ऑक्सी सल्फाइड  activated with terbium का use किया जाता हैं। और इसमें single coated x-ray film use होती है। इसमें low dose पर भी better quality की image प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। patient का examination standing sitting or lying position में किया जाता है।
