Position of patient and cassette
Patient को x-ray table पर supine सुलाते है। msp को table तथा bucky से right angle पर रखते हैं । और table की midline के अनुरूप रखते है। anterior superior iliac spine को table top से एकसमान दूरी पर रखते है। hips और knee को flexed करके feet के plantar aspect को table top पर रखते है। ऐसा इसलिए करते है जिससे कि lumbar arch कम हो जाए तथा vertebral column का lumbar region cassette के समांतर हो जाए ।
cassette पर्याप्त रूप से बड़ी होनी चाहिए। जिससे कि lower thoracic vertebrae तथा sacro-iliac joints को शामिल किया जा सके। तथा cassette के centre को lower costal margin के level पर रखते है।
Direction and centring of x-ray beam
Central ray को lower costal margin ( L3 ) के level पर midline की तरफ निर्देशित करते हैं।
Essential image characteristics
Image में T12 से लेकर सभी sacro-iliac joints भी शामिल होने चाहिए। patient की position में rotation का मूल्यांकन के लिए यह सुनिश्चित करते है कि sacro-iliac joints spine से equidistant पर हो।
